With its captivating design and the sheer pleasure of driving, the Giulia stands out as the only sports sedan in Alfa Romeo’s lineup. It returned to the American market in 2017 and was quickly named MotorTrend’s 2018 Car of the Year. The 2025 Giulia competes with premium compact sedans such as the BMW 3 Series, Acura TLX, and Cadillac CT5.
What’s New
The 2025 Giulia has undergone major changes. The Sprint, Ti, and Veloce trims have been entirely discontinued and replaced by a single base model. A new Veloce package has been introduced, along with a limited Tributo Italiano edition. Naturally, there are new color options too — most notably, a new shade called Verde Fangio Metallic. Sadly, Alfa’s iconic Quadrifoglio model will no longer feature the Ferrari-derived 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 engine.
Our Take
Even though the 505-horsepower Quadrifoglio version is no longer in the lineup, the Giulia still delivers an outstanding experience thanks to its 2.0-liter turbocharged engine, which produces 280 horsepower. It performs well on track and remains comfortable enough for daily driving. Its refined suspension is flawless, and the four-door sedan handles like a true premium vehicle.
Alfa’s design isn’t just about form — it’s an expression of emotion through lines and proportions. The silhouette is uniquely elegant. As for the interior, some competitors have slightly pulled ahead in terms of technology and design, but the Giulia still offers a compelling balance between luxury and sportiness.
Specs and Fuel Economy
The Giulia is equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four engine paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The Italian machine delivers 280 horsepower and 306 Nm of torque. It’s available in both rear-wheel-drive (RWD) and all-wheel-drive (AWD) versions. Fuel consumption remains unchanged:
Acceleration and Speed
The turbocharged rear-wheel-drive Giulia accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (0–62 mph) in just 5.2 seconds. For a compact, comfortable sedan, that’s a perfectly satisfying figure. For comparison, the previous model did it in 5.1 seconds.
Safety
Alfa offers a wide range of smart driver-assist features — whether you need all of them is up to you. The Giulia includes lane-keeping assist, blind spot monitoring (so no more neck strain from checking over your shoulder!), parking sensors, Intelligent Speed Assist (sounds like something out of a Stephen King sci-fi, right?), adaptive cruise control, and finally the Thatcham security system — hopefully as effective as it sounds. In short, Alfa Romeo is trying to make your journey as safe as possible. How well it succeeds is another matter... but one thing’s clear technology keeps advancing!
